Rob Lewis: Cybersecurity and Network Engineering, ‘20

A Marine and Air Force Veteran now at the forefront of U.S. Naval defense, Rob’s experience prepared him for endless possibilities in Cybersecurity

Rob Lewis (Cybersecurity and Network Engineering, ‘20) is an Informations System Security Officer contractor with KMS solutions at the Navy Undersea Warfare Center (Missile Branch) in Newport, RI. He utilizes tools he learned at to ensure Navy and Department of Defense (DOD) Cybersecurity standards are met.

Being a Veteran is a shared bond with a community

Rob is a Veteran, having served in the Marine Corps as a Sergeant and in the Air Force as a Master
Sergeant. Since 2003, he has been deployed five times, and is about to retire with a growing career. “I feel very lucky to be in the position I am in.”

Hands-on cybersecurity training helped launch Rob to success

For Rob, ’s strengths were the hands-on training, lab work and practical focus from instructors. “I loved the environment.”

Rob encourages Veterans attending to seize the opportunities. “Even if your job in the military was something completely different, you have the chance to chase your goal and live it. My job was training Aircrew in water and land survival skills, and now I work in Cybersecurity. You can get to where you want to go. And has the tools for you to be successful.”
