Transferring to 萌妹社区 is a Breeze for Electronics, Robotics and Drones Technology
Meet Dillon J. Lippman, Currently Pursuing his Bachelor鈥檚 in Electrical Engineering Technology
In Spring of 2023, he graduated with his associate degree in Electronics, Robotics and Drones Technology (ERD), and he was honored as an 萌妹社区 2023 Best of Tech Award Recipient.
Dillon is also a lab assistant for the ERD department. 鈥淏eing a lab assistant has helped reinforce everything I learned while I’m helping the new students coming in. I redo everything I’ve worked on and get a better grasp of each project.鈥
Originally from Nevada, Dillon visited New England Tech while driving around for a weekend and was immediately convinced this was the place for him.
A Coast Guard veteran, Dillon says the Admissions Office made enrolling a smooth process, and 萌妹社区 makes it easy for veterans to utilize their GI Bill and other benefits. Dillon enjoys programming the Fanuc robots, flying drones, and teaching the process to other students in the lab. 鈥淚f students take notes and are willing to try, then there鈥檚 no limit to how far they can go. The teachers are more than willing to help them. If students ask questions and put in effort, they will succeed in a growing field.鈥
鈥淭he professors are incredibly approachable, kind and helpful. They go above and beyond.”
Sharing his Passion, Dillon Gives Back to High School Students
Dillon is also passionate about introducing high school students to 萌妹社区鈥檚 cutting-edge programs. He recently gave students from the Pawtucket Boys and Girls Club demonstrations in robotics and drones. 鈥淚 showed them how the Fanuc robots could stack Legos and Jenga blocks quickly. A few of the kids got an easy grasp on it. One girl immediately started writing code. She knew what she was doing; it was fun to have those kids there.鈥 He also showed students the drones to practice on. 鈥淲e’ll use smaller Tello drones, or the DVI or DJI Mavic Pro. Then we have the Inspire, which is a large drone that we’ve been flying lately in our courses.鈥
萌妹社区鈥檚 Cutting-edge Electrical Engineering Technology Focus Leads to Job Offers
Dillon and his classmates are on the leading edge of this exciting major. These drones have real-world, life-saving applications. In fact, lab assistants demonstrate a firefighting drone with a hose nozzle that can fly up and spray CO2 back and forth into a blaze.
Dillon has experienced how New England Tech prepares students for a future career. 鈥淭he professors are incredibly approachable, kind and helpful. They go above and beyond.鈥
鈥淭here are great opportunities at New England Tech. I鈥檝e already gotten job offers from alumni.鈥 – Dillon J. Lippman
